Girly Girl

Yes, you have arrived in the right place.

This would not be a blog without a little bit of personal information, so bear with me for a second.

I have recently gained some notoriety including being congratulated by allot of really cool people. Seeing the sudden increase of traffic, however, I feel I should say something about it here.

Competitions are very interesting. They are a great opportunity to evaluate where you are at and get input on your work as well as some really cool prizes, but also competitions are a good practice for dealing with deadlines and expectations.

Working on the SOE contest, I realized two important things: First, that procrastination will one day be the death of me, and second; I somehow work better under pressure. Had I planned ahead, my work would probably not be as strong and…dare I say it, as wacky. I would also probably not have been as straight forward and honest in my essay had I any time to think things over. Needless to say, this is a horrible habit.

If there is one thing I learned from all this is that I should be this wacky all the time.

  1. Yay for wacky! :D Last minute stuff can be sometimes the best, inspiration is hard when you have weeks and weeks, heh.

Maybe this is the reason for so much crunch…but I hope not really ;)

  2. Lol! Yeah, I am sure inspiration hits the hardest when people are running on 60 hour shifts, bagels and coffee..or maybe I am mistaking inspiration for onset schizophrenia?

That could explain the wacky part, I guess :)

  3. 10+ cool points for admitting that wacky can be a good thing to have. Being a little more out there can sometimes distinguish you more in a lot of ways so keep it up. I always keep myself busy, I find myself focusing more on the task and pumping out good work when I know that I have to meet a deadline. Of course, this calls for organization in some way shape or form (which I am still terrible at) and only gets more complicated with a job. But those are just life skills we learn through time and error. ^_^

  4. The thing about deadlines is so true. My best work has been done since I started school and had the clock ticking away. Creativity comes from having set limitations, and time is one of the biggest limitations there can be!
